Montessori Kids | Bellevue Heights
The educators at Montessori Kids Bellevue Heights have all undertaken study in the Montessori Method and have obtained qualifications.
Each is passionate about their work with young children and work together to create an interesting, loving, supportive atmosphere where children from 15 months to 6 years create themselves as future ambassadors.
Emily Cook
I studied Junior Primary Teaching at University and have a Certificate 3 in Childcare and Montessori Studies. In 2013 I worked at Seacliff Montessori and moved to Montessori Kids in 2014. I have three school-aged children who attended the centre. Observing them throughout their time here and watching them transition to school as confident, independent children prepared with the building blocks for learning and life ignited my passion for Early Childhood Education in a Montessori environment.
My passion for Montessori education began when the eldest of my three sons entered a Montessori Playgroup at age 2 in 1985. Maria Montessori’s ideals aligned perfectly with my own beliefs as a parent and Mothercraft Nurse. I am dedicated to educating the child as a whole and helping them become responsible, independent humans as they learn skills for life. I never underestimate children’s capabilities and endeavour to provide as many opportunities during the most beneficial period of learning, before 6 years of age.

In 1980, I obtained a Diploma of Junior Primary Teaching. I worked with young children in schools, preschools, Learning Assistance Programmes, Kindergym and Swimming and Water Safety Programmes. At the same time, I raised four children of my own. I have extensive experience working with children with special needs and enjoy these teaching challenges. In 2008, I completed a Diploma of Montessori Studies to qualify to work in Early Childhood Education at Montessori Kids. My main role is to develop and run the Tots programme and set up the classroom environment to enhance the well-being and learning for 2-3-year-old children. I enjoy working with the children, families, and staff at Montessori Kids in a happy, supportive, well-equipped, attractive, dynamic, and rich learning environment.

I have had the pleasure of working at
Montessori Kids for 9 years. I first discovered Montessori Kids on my
return to Australia after living abroad for 10 years. I was extremely fortunate
to have both my children attend Montessori Kids. After watching them grow and
learn so much in this rich environment I knew I wanted to teach here. I have
been teaching since 1991. I have a Diploma of Primary education and specialise
in Italian. I taught in Italy at the Rome international school and held private
classes teaching English to children and adults. I have also worked in many
primary schools and public kindergartens. I truly enjoy being an Educator at
Montessori Kids and have immense pleasure in watching a child become an independent learner, resilient, and build on skills that prepare them for their
next stage of learning in life.

With a background in hospitality and hotel management, my interest in the Montessori method was piqued watching my two children grow and develop through the Montessori Kids centre. This sea change was completed in 2010 when I obtained a Certificate III in Children’s Services and Montessori Studies. I have since specialised in working with the Tots, supporting them to embrace our independence-based philosophy. I love working with our team of passionate professionals, promoting the Montessori Kids culture of respect and open communication between teachers, parents, and children alike.
